7 December 2011
I surprised the hell out of an older man. He stormed into my library and asked if I knew what was special about the day. Without blinking, I said, "its the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor." He looked like he was going to have a heart attack. Apparently, "young people" don't remember important anniversaries and are "doomed to repeat histories mistakes." I apparently renewed his faith in the future.

I think 'young people' these days don't even think about 9/11 the way that previous generations think of Pearl Harbor... and that makes me sad.
